What is the Nestlé Needs Youth Initiative?
At Nestlé we believe that communities thrive when they offer opportunities for younger generations. The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that two out of every five young people are unemployed or have a job that keeps them at a disadvantage. As a global company, we are determined to help young people develop skills and gain experience to develop a career or create their own business.
We want the creative and innovative teams of our company, successful agro-entreprenuers, entrepreneurs and change agents to come from the next generation, regardless of their field or level of experience. Through this initiative we contribute to building more prosperous and resilient communities by supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Since 2015, the Youth Initiative has been a Nestlé commitment aimed at contributing to the preparation and training of future generations. From this new commitment we will increase our reach to cover our entire value chain, from the supply of raw materials to the manufacture and distribution of our products.
Our ambition is to help 10 million young people around the world access economic opportunities by 2030.
Over the past decade, we have undertaken global, local and brand actions that have helped prepare hundreds of thousands of young people for work; We train and support more than 4 million farmers around the world and devleop the business skills of 2 million women.
Working towards our ambition for 2030, we will focus on three key areas:
We are determined to help young people develop their skills so that they can find better work options through the pillars: Get support, Get skilled, Get hired and Get more opportunities.
We support the development of the next generation of agro-entrepreneurs by providing them with tools that will help them become leaders in agriculture. With this we will strengthen our value chain contributing to the development of the field.
We value the entrepreneurial spirit by identifying and fostering the talent of young people. What will help us reach new markets and consumers? It is the innovators who will find the solutions for the business challenges of the future.
